Last part of the winter storm

Well, the weather has gotten much better- it has gone from below zero to 70 degrees within a week. Crazy Oklahoma weather!  I forgot to mention some of the funnier things that Brooks said during the "Blizzard of 2011."

The newscasters kept talking about the "Big blizzard outside."  At one point, Brooks was looking out the window and said, "Mom, I don't see the big lizard that they keep talking about." :-)

My friend, Shane Faulkner, is a newscaster for Channel 4. Of course, during the inclement weather, he was working during the day and was on TV much more than usual, reporting about the weather and road conditions.  Brooks finally looked at me and said, "Mommy, I'm tired of watching Shane. Can we please watch one of my shows now?"

Of course, being inside as much as we were during the snow, the house looked like a complete wreck.  There were toys scattered from one end to the other. Justin asked Brooks to pick up his toys. Brooks got his "magic wand," touched Justin with it and said, "I turned you into a helper. You will help me now."  Brilliant!

Both boys are sick right now.  Justin stayed home with Ryden and took him to the pediatrician.  He has a viral infection and an ear infection. Brooks and Justin have the flu. :-(  I am trying to keep my sanity during this time and stay well myself.  I'm doubling up on vitamins and drinking lots and lots of fluids. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get it.  Until next time...

Snow Break!!

We were snowed in for a few days (due to what Oklahomans are calling the Snowpocalypse 2011). During this time, the boys and I spent almost a full week together. I honestly think that by day 6 they were tired of me and really missing Grandma and Grandpa.  I thought I would list a few of the cuter things that they did during our time together...

I was putting Brooks down for a nap. He always wants me to make up a story, but he gives me specifics about what he wants. (Ex. I want a story about 2 reindeer and a moose. Or I want a story about a lion and his lion cub.)  So, he tells me he wants to hear a story about a butterfly.  So, I start out, "Once upon a time, there was a little caterpillar..."  He says, "No, Mommy. It is already a butterfly, not a caterpillar."  Seriously?!

At one point, it was snowing really hard outside. Brooks had taken a toilet paper roll and was running around blowing into it.  He was looking out the window and said, "I've been calling the buffalo bison. They must be lost or in their homes all toasty warm because they haven't come to my house yet."

We took the boys sledding with some close friends of ours- the Howards. Ryden absolutely loved it. The next day, he had gotten the sled back out and was sitting on it when I came into the playroom. He was totally ready to go again!

We went to the Howards' to watch the Superbowl.  We had a better time than any Superbowl party we ever had before kids.  The Robinsons came with their 2 kiddos.
Brooks came running out of Haley's room screaming, "Mom, Haley's mad at me."  When I asked why, he said, "Because she wants me to be the princess and I don't want to be the princess!"
