Have I mentioned that I love my job??? Yesterday, we had just enough ice on the roads to close OKC schools for the day. Justin decided to stay home with the boys and me, so we all cooked breakfast and relaxed all day. Karma even had a full plate of bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy... I love unexpected days at home with the kids!
Brooks and Ryden were playing at one point when I noticed that all-too-familiar odor of poopy diaper. I asked who it was and Brooks told me that it was him and that he needed his diaper changed. I carried him to our bedroom to change him and while I was in the process he asked, "You are putting a new diaper on me, right Mommy?" Me- "Of course I am." Him- "Good, cause I really want one without the poop on it."
He keeps telling me that he is scared of pooping in the toilet but he can't tell me exactly what he is scared of. I have heard that this is a big deal for some kids, but haven't quite figured out what to do about it...
Later that evening, after Ryden had gone to bed, Brooks and I were watching Peter Pan (Disney version). All of a sudden, he jumped up from the couch, ran over to the dining room table and started trying to climb onto the table. Mother's instinct clicked in and I ran over just in time to catch him before he attempted to "fly" off of the table. I told him that the movie was pretend and that he really couldn't fly. He said, "But they said all you have to do is think of Christmas!" :-)

Wishing that I had started this sooner. :-(
Last night, Brooks and Ryden had me in tears. I was literally cracking up at the little things they were doing. I have been telling myself that I need to start writing down the cute things that they do so that I won't forget them, or so I can use it against them at some point later in their lives. Brooks is now 2 1/2 and although I swore that I couldn't ever possibly forget the hilarious things he has said and done, two back-to-back pregnancies and taking care of two kids has caused some sort of memory breakdown for me... This blog is meant to really be like a diary of sorts for myself, my husband and my kiddos; however, anyone who wants an occasional chuckle or is incredibly bored is more than welcome to follow along.
So here goes-
Last night, I was clipping Brooks' fingernails after his bath. Since he was little, I have clipped them almost all the way, but let him pull them off (he loves to do this). He usually puts the clippings on the countertop of the sink and then we brush them into the sink when we are done. However, this time, he was carefully arranging the clippings into a shape. He said, " I am making a face- this is fingernail art. Cut the next one, Mommy 'cause he needs hair." I let him make his face, cracking up the whole time. I thought he was done looking at it and so I pushed them off into the sink like normal. He looked at me with his little lip in a pout and said (quietly and dramatically), "Why did you do that? I loved him." Then, he kissed me and started giggling.
I may have to go back and post some things from the past, just as I remember them. This time is so precious and Ryden is quickly developing a serious personality. I know that I will appreciate doing this in the future...
